The proud moment quickly turned to horror as graduates climbed onto the platform at a college in Baghdad, in Iraq.
It had been set up outside Baghdad’s College of Pharmacy so the students could pose for a post-graduation photograph after they had been handed their degree certificates in a ceremony a short while before.
However the stand collapsed under the weight of the graduates as onlookers cried out in terror

However, all of a sudden the platform started wobbling, and in the space of a few seconds it collapsed.
It sent the students and teaching staff crashing to the ground where they piled up on top of each other as shocked onlookers screamed.

It appeared the back row collapsed first, quickly followed by the rest of the structure.
There was panic immediately afterwards as people rushed to rescue their loved ones, fearing they might be crushed in the mass of bodies.
Thankfully there were no casualties although several people were treated for injuries in hospital.
